Safety Tips

"In victory, be humble. In defeat, be strong. In all things be fair."

Safety Tips

  1. Always trust your instincts. If you feel something is wrong, it probably is.
  2. Be confident. Don't look like an easy target.
  3. When in a nightclub or bar, NEVER leave your drink unattended.
  4. Always keep the doors to your house locked, even when you're at home.
  5.  Keys can be a good weapon. Put them between your fingers like claws.
  6. When you are out walking and suspect that a car is following you, turn and walk in the opposite direction. It makes it difficult for the car to turn and follow you.
  7. Never enter your home if it looks like there might be an intruder. Call 911 from your cell phone or a neighbor's house.
  8. Carry your cell phone at all times and keep it charged.
  9. If your car breaks down, don't open your door or window for anyone. Ask any police officer for ID.
  10. Stay aware of your surroundings when you are out jogging or walking. Vary your routine and take a friend or your dog with you.
  11. NEVER get into a vehicle, even if you are threatened with a weapon. Statistics show that if you get into the vehicle you will not survive.
  12. It only takes seven pounds of pressure to break a bone. Use this knowledge if necessary.

Self defense tips

  1. If someone grabs your wrist, twist your hand so that your thumb side is at the opening where your attacker's thumb and fingers meet. Slide your wrist through the opening and get away as quickly as possible.
  2. An attacker facing you places a hand on your left shoulder. Reach up with your left hand, grab the thumb, peel the hand away and bend it back at the wrist, forcing the attacker to the ground.
  3. If someone grabs you from behind in a "bear hug" pinning your arms to your sides, drop your head forward, then slam it back into your attacker's face. As his grip loosens, push both arms up and get away.
  4. If grabbed from behind, raise your knee, then slam your heel down on your attacker's instep.
  5. Use the palm heel of your hand to strike upwards at your attacker's nose.
  6. Learn the pressure points on the body. When hit properly, pressure points cause pain, numbness and a temporary decrease in nerve function.
